Mark Grace Celebrity Invitational

The event starts with registration and breakfast at 10:30 a.m. followed by a 12 noon shotgun start. This 36-hole tournament joins more than 200 golf enthusiasts with local and national celebrities for an exciting day on the course, a cocktail reception, silent and live auction, and an awards dinner. This tournament benefits Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Scottsdale and takes place at the Camelback Golf Club, 7847 North Mockingbird Lane in Scottsdale. Sedona Marathon

Run through the red rocks to benefit the Lymphoma Research Foundation and Sedona area schools. Choose from a full marathon, half-marathon or a 5K. All events begin at 8 a.m. at Sedona High School, 995 Upper Red Rock Loop Road in West Sedona and all participants are invited to enjoy pre- and post-race festivities. Community Drum and Dance Class

Experience West African drumming and dancing in this free class, open to participants of all ages. No experience is necessary. Twentieth Annual World Championship Hoop Dance Contest

More than 70 of the top Native hoop dancers from the United States and Canada will compete for cash prizes and the World Champion title in an art form that combines graceful movement with fast-paced precision. Visitors can enjoy dance performances and food from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Heard Museum, 2301 North Central Avenue. Adult admission prices vary and children under the age of six are free. Developmental Screening

Annual VNSA Used Book Sale

Proceeds of this annual sale benefit Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation, Literacy Volunteers of Maricopa County, and Toby House. Admission is free and parking costs $7 per vehicle at the Arizona State Fairgrounds Exhibit Building, 1826 West McDowell Road. Better Breathers Support Group

This group is for patients and family members with pulmonary disease, lung cancer or other breathing problems. It meets the third Wednesday of each month from 2 to 3 p.m. at Chandler Regional Medical Center’s Cancer Center in the Morrison Board Room, 1875 West Frye Road in Chandler. Phoenix Open

“The Greatest Show on Grass,” known for having the biggest names in golf and for being the best-attended tournament in the world, has gained legendary status for being the most unique stop on the PGA tour. Since the birth of this tournament in 1939, nearly $65 million has been raised for Arizona charities. This year’s open, the 75th anniversary of the Phoenix Open, will be held at the Tournament Players Club (TPC), 17020 North Hayden Road in Scottsdale.
